shifter mount,how does these things work

hi,
my shifter doesnt seem to push all the way back up in the floor boards like it should,the shifter came out of the actually mounting plate thats bolted to the floor,what hold them together?? i seen the things on the sides,but i dont see how thats really that safe,anybody else have this problem??? thanks alot.

and i tried a search,but really couldnt come up with much,thanks again.

thanks alot,that is what i needed. i guess ill try the screw fix,and if that doesnt work,out comes the welder. where about's are you located in w/v? i dont think i have seen your car running around. anyways,im am rebuilding this festy,its a 93, the dark greenish color. i am currently waiting on new ball joints,and tie rod ends.and will be picking up some new wheel bearings,and a brake kit tonight for the rear.im tired of spending $100 a week in gas to go to and from work. but anyways,thanks alot for your input.
