I dont have any heat from my dash vents.....what is the problem? HAH, I know. But, I was wondering if that was something that could be changed with a little elbow grease, and a sawz-all? What might i be looking at when/if i get into it?

may i suggest a nuclear reactor in the back seat

would be a lot easier than modifying the air ducts

Since I don't have AC, and don't want AC, I have kicked this idea around too. Not sure how much hacking would be involved to be able to direct heat to the dash vents, but I intend to find out.

And FWIW, lilred, I got the joke.

I have my dash out now, if anyone wants me to snap some pics of the air box let me know. The way it works is that if you set it on dash vents, the air is diverted up to the vents directly after the fan. Set it on floor or defrost, and its diverted down from the fan, through the heater core then out to the corresponding vents. One way i see to get heat to the dash vents would be.....
..to leave the dash vent mode door permanently closed, remove all the dash vent duct work. Find a part of the air box after the heater core where you can cut and make your own door, make a control linkage to open/close the door. From there you can run new ductwork up to the dash vents. Can be done, if you want. I'm satisfied with the stock heat, it gets hot in a little car quick regardless of what vents its coming from and i like it on the floor vents anyway.

Oh, and by the way. Every festiva owner should remove/install their dash, its a blast...

Haha, yes. Once its apart its simple, its just not knowing what to expect taking it out the first time. Screws along the top and one on each side, drop the steering column and lower brackets, remove radio to unplug antenna plug, remove hvac controls, then dash harness plug on drivers side.
