Rotten boots and bushings

Put new control arms, bushings and tie rods on my dad's 91 Festiva a few years ago. Fast forward to today and the bushings and the boots on the control arms are already rotten. They came with the control arms. The tie rod boots still look good (moog's). Not sure where we got the arms don't imagine that would matter since they all come from the same place. Anyone else have this happen? Shoot the factory lasted over 10 years.

spray them with wd-40 every couple months and that won't happen. Depends on where you live as to how long they last.
