  • Aspire wheel bearing spacers

    I'm a little pissed -- Here's the story.

    Last summer I traveled to BC and bought a festiva... Sasquatch helped me out with an Aspire swap... Everything that we did ourselves is perfectly fine...

    However -- We had to get the front wheel bearings installed by a machine shop because we didn't have a press... I pay them about $100 to press the bearings in. Once Sasquatch and I get everything installed, we take it for an alignment and the alignment place informs me that the front wheel bearings have been crushed. We go back to the machine shop and we're informed they don't offer warranty on press work

    So I pay the alignment shop $300 for parts and labor to re-do my crushed bearings...

    So today I take the car to a local shop to get my winter tires installed on the rims... Turns out my wheel bearings have problems...

    The new shop thinks that between the first two shops they've lost the spacers that go between both the wheel bearings

    Sooo... Anyone happen to have the measurements for the wheel spacers?

    I need outside and inside diameter along with the 21 or so thicknesses that they came in.

    take your hubs to a kia dealer and tell them they are for a RIO, bring your bearings and its like $50 to get them installed maybe another $20 for the proper spacers.

        I would say 99, just have them install the bearings, then the preload will be tested for and everything.

            So I'm going to be ordering new parts just to make just to make sure I don't have to deal with any more bloody wheel bearing issues --

            I've got a swap from a 1997 Automatic Aspire without ABS. Here's the parts that I'm ordering;

            2X NATIONAL Part # A18 {Cone Length=0.5315" Bore=1.4961" Outer Diameter=2.4803" Width=0.669 StoundOut=0.138" Cup Length=0.5315" Taper Bearing Set}
            Front Wheel; Inner
            Front Wheel; Outer

            2X NATIONAL Part # 710323 {Nitrile / Shaft Size=2.008" Housing Bore=2.48" Outer Diameter=2.488" Width=0.335" Oil Seal}
            Front Wheel; Outer

            2X NATIONAL Part # 4990 {Nitrile / Shaft Size=2.047" Housing Bore=2.677" Outer Diameter=2.688" Width=0.276" Oil Seal}
            Front Wheel; Inner

            Am I missing anything that they'll need to install the new parts?

              good luck with the dealer....here in chicago unless you know someone one its just outrageous!! i just ordered the spacers and i believe its a 2000 kia rio. theres a guy by the name of bill klzbill who is rebuilding hubs. i will be sending him mine with spacers to get rebuilt. he is going to measure for the correct preload. he had some spacers but had me order # 9-12 from kia which was about 50 buxs for 8 of them

                It might be better to get another set of hubs that have to correct spacers in them and redo those hubs since yours were damaged.
