  • Can someone tell me what i did wrong?

So i was building an intake for it, looks awsome btw. And first off i break the plug on the mass air flow sensor. So I replaced it with a refurbished one and now it just wont idle. It will rev up if you push the gas, but will just die if you dont push the gas after it is started.

It does this for the stock intake all attached and the intake i made. I cant figure out why since i only broke one thing and replaced it. The rest is all tubing???

I have both hoses hooked up also, not really sure what they are for but they are plugged in.

Any suggestions, im thinking it might be the throttle position sensor but really dont know how to tell. And i dont know why it would just go out right now if it was.

Check that you didn't bend a pin in the plug of the mass air or any other plug you dissconnected.

well i can tell the maf works because i started it unplugged and it would idle but give it gas and it dies. Then i plugged it in and it would start go to 1000-1500 then bogg down and die, had to give it gas to run.

Trying to test the throttle position sensor to see if its good, friend of mine is helping and says that it should give a volt reading at different throttle positions and im getting nothing.

Our wiring diagrams not great though, so were thinking the middle pin is ground and either the top or bottom is positive...tried it both ways and nothing.

No check engine light so i cant check that...

Can anyone supply a wiring diagram or troubleshooting pages on it. He is using All data and it sucks.

what year is it....plus....TONYCASH just fixed one that would run but die.....was a pin not making contact in the MAF plug....look carefully at it.
I have an electrical diagnostics book for a 91. Let me know. I have some pics posted already.

                last one...

The only thing i see is there is a black wire with metal ends that looks like it needs to be connected, but then there is a white wire that comes through it and goes into the maf?

okay this is where im at...

MAF sensor unplugged, check engine light, idles but give gas and dies

MAF sensor plugged in, no check engine light, starts up and goes to 1000-1500 rpms, then dies unless you give it gas.

TPS plugged in or unplugged, no check engine light, starts up and goes to 1000-1500 rpms, then dies unless you give it gas.

Any other ideas, i loved this car up until now and this is just not making any sense to me

all are silver, that one was gold. Looks fine, pulled on all wires all had a little wiggle to them but nothing big.

                      tonycash ever find a solution?

it was one of the terminals in the plug not making connection

and his plug looks just like mine, one gold colored connector

Shouldnt something happen if the tps is plugged in and unplugged? Figured it would throw a code or run differently?

try the code.....he also found that the check engine light did not come on but when checked it was still showing a code that helped him diagnose what the problem was.
