yeah i was referring to the sock on the pump but more specifically the gas tank itself corroding, which wont neccessarily mean the sock is an issue just the crud in the tank. i got a new tank on the way cus that shiz was just too hard to get out and when i did it just built up more, tried seafoam any additive there was and also manually removed the crud but i just had to bite it and get a new tank. also if you do drain your tank and can feel around to see any black or brownish gunk like hard little rust deposits then im pretty sure u have the same problem i do but i havent read this whole thread so sorry if this is a pointless post. lol

Your going to have a new car when you're done! I had a problem similiar to yours in a S10 and it was the ECU.. even though I got a new one from Autozone and it didn't help. The one from Chevy itself though fixed it. My old 91 Festiva had a similiar problem also but never figured out what caused it just went away!91 rusty Festiva 260k

A loose TPS can cause this, without being bad. Check to be sure it is tight. Check the values as described before. A simple adjustment could be all that is needed. Mine has over 600K, rapidly approaching 650K, and still works fine.
I have been having a similar problem that I am working on right now, the O-Ring on one of my fuel injectors is bad. One cylinder is not firing. Wait for the problem to start, then, let it run at an idle. Disconnect one spark plug wire at a time. If the idle does NOT change when any one of them are removed, report back!
If the idle changes for each, the problem is probably not there.
Disconnect the Vaf at the air filter while running. Does the idle change? Mine will stall if this is done...
My main concern is that you are spending tons of money, and the fix has not been found! RE your earlier post, just replacing sensors and parts until the problem is fixed is EXPENSIVE! Note my tag line, diagnose, THEN replace
Please feel free to call me as well! You can PM me for my number....Contact me for information about Festiva Madness!

ok so i figured out what was causing my Festiva to run the way it was, it is this censor in between fuel injectors one and two. i disconected it and now the car runs fine, idles fine. i tryed reconecting it and the motor wanted to die so BAM! theres the problem but i dont know what the censor is so if you know let me know also give this a try to see if it works for you.1990 Ford Festiva 196k Automatic (Gone) " It's a small car so you gotta drive it like your ticked off...
