trys to die when pressing on the gas

Hey people I need some help I got my dad car "zippy" back from the people my mom sold it too. Its has some problems it has some starting issues but I'm assuming that can be fixed with a new starter. But my main concern is after you get it to start it will idle perfectly but when you give it some gas it will try to die I checked my MAF and it looks fine the flap inside is not sticking or anything I cleaned and put brand new o-rings on the fuel injectors.

what year is "zippy"? 5 speed? might be fuel filter.

Start with the simple things like checking the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. See if there is any corrosion on the rotor and the cap.

Does it rev up at all and drive? Has the car been sitting?

s a 92automatic with the bp swap I had a friend check the plugs and he said they were ok now I'm thinking it could be the gas it has been sitting at the persons House fr a while I took the fuel fileter out and try to blow out whatever gungk that was in it and there was black stuff that came out of the filter. It does rev up slowly but when you press the gas it trys to die.

will it warm up?
and if warm, does it still do it?

changing the fuel filter and cleaning the tank and fuel sock
if it still does it
look at the ecm temp sensor
or
a clogged catalytic converter

Yeah it idles good around 900rpm and gets warm but its still does it. could it be possible that it gets too much air? Because it pulls a lot of air when I hit the gas.

I'd say new gas, gas conditioner, and fuel system/combustion chamber cleaner to start with.

Ok is there a gas plug where I can drain the gas or do I have to siphon the gas out I there's still about a half of tank of gas.

Dustin there is a drain plug on the tank that you can drain the gas out with.

where is it located on the tank? i tried looking but i didnt see any maybe i over looked it.

It should be on one of the corners I think. Can't remember exactly.

if your on the drivers side of the car, its on that side, its a bolt and it will probably be covered in gas tank liner and or gunk

Ok I see the bolt your talking about that's on the driver side thank you all for your help
