  • 95 aspire won't start

My dad's aspire is having issues starting. He thought his fuel lines froze because his gas was low. He put a 1/2 tank in it, and parked it in the garage for about 4 hours now. It still won't start. We have taken the hose off of the fuel filter, and it sprays out good when we try to start it. We took the plugs out, and they were dry, as though it was not getting fuel. We do have spark, and like I said, the fuel sprays fine out of the filter, so I am kinda at a loss. Fuel pressure regulator maybe? Please help. Thanks

It seems to be building up pressure in the gas tank. I have taken the cap off twice to hear a woosh!

That is what it appears to be, but for all of them to quit at the same time would be weird. I just don't know what else it could be.... It is his only form of transportation, so we need it fixed asap. Thanks guys, and keep the ideas coming.

my car blew the eng. inj fuse the other day, its under the hood by the prop rod, something like a 30A fuse. It did the exact same thing. Also check the wires running up to the engine bay fuse box, one could have corroded off. So far the winter has killed my starter, eng inj fuse, a high beam, and my thermostat twice... its a rough life for aspires.

check your "fusible links" on the drivers side mid engine bay. if that car has them, my old festy did something similar to what you are talking about, and it ended up being the connection's was corroded. . well thats my 2 cents. good luck, and happy holidays

All of the fuses and fusable links look to be good. We are thinking it is the FPR. We are going to get a FP gauge today and check it out. I will let you guys know what happens. Thanks everyone.

Just got the gauge and I'm getting 42psi after the filter. From what I have read, this is towards the high end, but I don't think it should cause any problems. The fpr is still a possibility I would think, but shouldn't the injectors still be firing? The plugs remain dry as though they(the injectors) are not! I have checked the fusable links, and they appear to be good, so once again, I am at a loss. Would the FPR keep it from starting? Any help is greatly appreciated by myself and my dad. Thanks

check the wires going to the bottom of the engine fuse block too, they tend to corrode off and such. also try changing your cap and rotor.

yeah I'm on the look out for a new daily driver and then I'm taking the aspire off the road to do the body work to it and make it a super mini truck, complete with AWD, wide tires, and bolt on fender flares.

I may jack it up a bit too.

I wondered about the wires myself, so I checked them out. There are 2 going into the eng. inj. fuse. They seem to be ok. I tested the injectors with a test light, and the computer is sending a signal to them. Now, the new plugs we put in are getting wet, but it still won't start! We have fire, and fuel, but it will not run! How can this be? I removed the top of the airbox to see if that could be a problem, but still nothing.... Any other ideas?

I had a simliar weird situation with mine too when I first got it. I changed the fuel filter, wires, cap, plugs, air filter....

It turned out to be the wires and plugs. Later though, the fuel pump went out.
