Thanks for the help everyone.... We pulled the disty cap off and somehow the rotor pressed against the top of the cap and chewed the hell out of both. $50 later, new cap, rotor, and plugs, and we are back on the road. We are kinda wondering how the rotor pressed against the cap. Any ideas? We were thinking the disty shaft came out and pushed the rotor into the cap, but we are not able to move the disty shaft by hand at all....The normal is not always normal... MOST is not ALL... And any job can be hard if you don't have the right tools!!!

Rotor may have been installed wrong, not pushed down all the way?
With electrical stuff, I always try to see if there is fire at the spark plug end of the wires, by getting someone to hold it with their hand! haha!
No, actually, you can pull the plug terminal off just a little bit, hold the plug boot 1/4-1/2 inch away from the spark plug, and watch for a blue/white spark to arc over to the spark plug. When you see that, you know you are getting fire.Last edited by drddan; 12-28-2009, 11:16 PM.Dan

there is a lot more activity here, but if its aspire specific you usually get answers like:
"just take the brake swap parts off and scrap the rest"
"its a wast of time, sell me the brake swap parts and get a festiva"
Plus there are a few of us on there that have been elbow deep in aspire guts for years now, and we tend to know diagnosis things right off the bat. (not me with wiring, but iceracer and others over there).89 Festiva L Carby 4 Speed... RIP. Evicted and Scrapped. I HATE MY FAMILY
