greasing steering rack

I have the steering rack out of my parts car, and I got the festiva motor sports steering kit off of Ebay. I want to clean and grease the rack before I install it. But the FSM only talks about greasing the rack while its fully disassembled. Is it possible to grease the rack without tearing it down to its bits and pieces?

You can turn it fully one way and then the other cleaning off the old grease and then putting new grease on.
