  • No charge/ Dying battery

I recently bought a 90 L Plus automatic. I haven't really driven it because the heat doesn't work as well as my 89 L and it seemed like the battery was almost dead. Lights dimming out and the like. Figured it was either the battery or alternator. Replaced the battery 2 days ago after the wheel bearing broke in my 89. So I used my 90 to get back and forth to work twice about 20 miles each way. This morning I went to start it and no luck. Battery is dead. Yesterday on my way home from work it was acting weird. Give it gas and the radio would fade out, take my foot off the gas and it would come back. Also with my turn signal on my car would surge slightly. Any suggestions to my problem? I search for similar problems but didn't come up with anything. Really need to get one of the two back on the road. Thank you for any help or advice.

Have you replaced the Fusable links? My charge light would come on from the corroded wire in the center. They look like these http://www.fordfestiva.com/forums/sh...=fusable+links Most run 30-40-30

+1 on the fusible links. Also, a weak battery can cause all kinds of weird electrical problems

No but I did just buy them the other day to replace them. I did it in my other car already. Will do.

x2. Can't hurt to change out the links, but I'm betting either your alt. is dying, or your alt. belt is slipping/loose. Take the car or the alternator to a local McParts place, and they should be able to test it for you.

Belt was loose and slipping. Also replaced the connections at the battery. So old and loose. Replaced the fuseable links as well. Starts runs and changes like normal now. Thank you for the help.
