  • Stiff Steering

I've noticed that my daily driver Festiva is a lot stiffer to steer than the other running one. I can spin the wheel with one hand on one, but not on the other. Both have fully inflated tires at about 31 PSI.

Any thoughts on why the steering on my daily driver Festiva is so stuff compared to the others?

I would say the lack of grease in the joints, or bad joints. We just replaced the tie-rod's in my dad's festiva and it turns alot easier than it did before. He said his has always been tight but both of mine were easy. Take a grease needle and a little moly and it will help out a bunch.

I've mentioned this in another post somewhere, but tires can make a huge difference. When I bought my second Festiva, it turned much harder than my first one.

A few months after I bought it, I put new tires on it, and wallah, it then turned just like my other one.

The air pressure in the old tires was correct.

I just bought new tires and had them aligned a few months ago, but they didn't affect the steering much.

However, I'll try greasing the joints and see what happens.

        Thanks!
