Running rich or something else?

After a long cruise down the tollway. It seems as tho my car doesn't want to get up and go. Kinda like its flooded? It feels like its getting loaded up and it just hesitates stutters when its cold. Also, I cut off my CAT and its a straight pipe back to a Thrush turbo muffler.

Also I'm only getting like 25mpg

Any suggestions? (Its the 2 barrel engine BTW)

Same thing is happening to me, the way that I've helped it in my car (temporary fix for testing) is a 4 inch wide strip of cardboard along the bottom of the rad, pushed in front of the rad, but long enough for cardboard to stick in a little bit into the engine compartment. That's bringing my temp up into the middle of the heat gauge and even on long runs, it only drops to 1/4. Keep in mind, I'm running in about 17-35 degree F temps right now. If you're running in warmer temperatures, try decreasing the width of the strip to 3 inches.

My bet is that your temp drops almost to the bottom of the normal range and that's when you're losing power. (If your car is following the pattern that mine is).

I'm still looking for the fix for mine, but in the meantime, this is helping me out and letting me drive the 100+ miles to work and back daily.

Yeah

Ok. I cut out a 4" piece of cardboard and put it over the bottom of the radiator. I left it idling in the driveway for about 20 minutes and the temp gauge went up a lot, and the electric fan finally came on. Then I also noticed that heat works much better. And yes, while I am driving down the tollway the temp is right above the C normally. I will try driving it tonight and see if it helps.

Also, I live in Chicago so its pretty cold here too. Maybe in the summer it will run better?

Is there a way to adjust the fuel/air ratio on this car? I still think it may need some tuning.

no, the computer does that for you (provided the engine is up to temp and the O2 sensor is good). the A/F controller is called the ABC valve (small canister with 4 vac hoses, front passenger side of the carb) it regulates air after the throtle plate.
