Someone who has a b6 from about 1988

I am not usually so careless but it seems i have lost part of my distributor....or not. ???

Does the b6 distributer have a cover that goes between the rotor and the advance electronics? (An under the rotor dust cover?) The shop manual does not show one in the blow up.

Anyway, I had two distributors right here in this chair comparing them ....and now it seems i lost part of one

I know the b3's had them, but if you buy a new disty at the parts store, they do not come with them. They say the part was discontinued.

My '89 w/ vacuum advance doesn't have one, nor do I remember any others having it.

Has your disty ever been replaced as far as you know? My carbed '89 has one. I just had to replace the disty and the one I got was missing the cap, so I had to use the one off of my old one, because parts stores told me they couldn't order it. I was wondering if it would hurt not having one... I guess not.

I think it was at one point, that could be why the cap is missing.
