  • Radiator upper mounting "posts" departed vehicle

Both of the mounting/alignment posts on the top of my radiator separated from the radiator and departed the vehicle. The mounting brackets and rubber grommets are still there. Is it likely that a radiator shop would be able to weld some stubby pieces of rod in their place? It looks like the top of the radiator is a brass-like color. What material should they use? If so, I'd like to temporarily substitute another radiator from one of my lawn ornaments while this one is being repaired -- this radiator has only about 35K miles since new from when I overhauled the engine. Would I have to be choosy about which donor radiator I pick? The subject vehicle is an 88LX with AC. I have vague recollections about radiators from non-AC and AC cars somehow being different.

I have a photo of the problem I can email if it's not clear what I'm talking about here.

the original radiators were plastic tanks and aluminum cored.

the only differences were between the automatic and manual transmissions, the auto has a thicker core(most desirable)

the aftermarket radiator is brass spray painted black
