  • Charging problem

Ok it is a 92 GL 5 speed. Was on my way home and my aftermarket tach jumps rpms and shuts off. That didn't bother me at all so i continue to drive home. Then the charge light starts to come on so i shut the radio off and fog lights so the light goes off. Then cursing at 60 the light starts to come on again so i let off the gas it goes out after 10 mins go by the light just stays on. Would it be the alt? I'm pretty sure it is, but want to have others input.
    Thanks for the help guys.
    Also could i use a 88 alt?

Have you replaced the Fusible links. My charge light would come on from the fusible links being bad. But it could be the alt. Maybe check the battery teminals also.

you should be able to use the 88 alt. swap it out and see what happens

      1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
      1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

check the belt tension. You can have the alt. tested at autozone if the belt is ok.

I had that problem and it was corroded wiring connections. Drove me crazy for a week!
