  • Tilt steering swap question

I am putting in the tilt steering, with int wipers, etc.

Just realized, my 93 has a wiring clip that runs into the headlight stalk, that this doesn't, and it apparently controls my running lights!

Anyone else doing this swap run into this? What was your work around?

Tilt steering is a total joke. It only moves up/down about an inch. I have it on my 88LX and never use it.

Is it possible to install intermittent wipers on a standard column?
Also, was cruise control ever an option on these cars? How hard is it to install the switches and the throttle module if so?

I am putting in the tilt steering that ALSO has the combo switch that has orange lettering, and intermittent wipers, as well as a new ignition switch that doesn't let the key fall out. While I know that I can swap these onto a non tilt column, my wife MIGHT be able to utilize that little bit of tilt, and I still wouldn't be able to get that combo switch to work....

Oren, I have no clue about how hard cruise control is to install, I imagine it would be easier on an auto, but I never use it when I have it :~(

Perhaps if you started a thread on it???

I will post pics in later Sunday of my exact problem, I thought it might be common....

              Yes it is.
Also try searching. Its been done with an aftermarket setup. I believe it was a dealer only option.

You can install the cruise control from a Mazda 323 if you use some creativity. I did that on one of my Festivas. Looked completely stock and worked pretty well.

I rather like the fact that my ignition does that! I can pull up to the night deposit box for work, or run into the house for just a second, and of course open the rear hatch, and not have to turn my car off...It's very convenient.
