Front Grille Assembly

I had 2 clips missing on my grille. I found some at the junk yard today. I tried to install them today but they didn't hold. Is there some kind of trick to installing these clips? I couldn't get them to work. These clips are really brittle, i broke a few trying to remove them after they didn't hold. Maybe there is something else I could use to try to attach the grille?

with the grille removed, push the clips into the grille itself where they are supposed to go, until they click, then stick the grille to the front of the car. be sure each one clicks in all the way. is your center grille clip intact (under the ford emblem) there should be a screw that holds the grille to the car there.

The only clip that still intact is the one on the passengers side of the grille. I didn't know there was a screw holding the grille. Thanks for the info. I'll try to fix it tomorrow.

There is another clip that works (same clip- but part list doesnt show interchange), I think from like a 96 or so Escort.

Escort grill clip, part# BF67-50715(found the part bag). This is whats holding mine on now.

Do you realize that those clips have a release lever that must be pressed to get them to release?

I just took mine off today. I spayed them with WD-40, removed the one screw, gently pressed down on the release levers while pulling the grille away from the clips. If they don't respond to a gentle pull, the lever has not fully released them. Relax, take a deep breath, and try again. Patiently.

I Got them all off without breakage. When I put them back, I plan to first attach the clips to the body of the car. Then hold the grille up to fine tune their locations. Then press the grille gently into the clips until they all click into place.
