  • Oil pump rotor plate sealant?

I just pulled and measured out my oil pump, and I was wondering if anyone knows if you need to seal the plate that covers the rotors? I didn't see any, and it looks like a tight machined fit. Any thoughts?

not unless you want the sealant in your oil stream to clog your pressure sensor

no sealent, but a light dab of blue locktite on the screw threads isn't a bad idea.

That was kind of what I figured. The only thing I have to do now is prime the thing. I found in a search that cranking the engine without fuel or spark will help. On an OHC engine it's really easy, you just turn the pump with a screwdriver until oil comes out the rockers. If only it were that easy with a rotary pump.

^^ You can fill it with LubriPlate while you have it apart. Works on both rotary and gear pumps
If a hammer doesn't fix it you have an electrical problem
