Next issue...a "thud" when i let out the clutch

This one is a mystery to me...not sure what to make of it. My initial thought was maybe a motor mount or maybe the trans mount but i thought i'd get a second opinion.

When driving the car...the clutch feels fine. It doesn't feel slippy or anything. But, if i don't slip the clutch letting it out, i get a THUD when i let it out, and i get it in 1st and 2nd usually, never really let it go long enough to see if it does it in every gear. I've just gotten into the habit of being really gentile letting it out so it doesn't do it. What could cause this? It doesn't feel like anything inside the trans if that makes sense...and it goes into gear perfectly.

Check the motor mounts first.....

When my TPS was bad, I got a lot of bucking, but no thuds......

My car only bucks when it's not warmed up and i try to drive it (no choke on the carb).

I did look the motor mounts over...they looked pretty new actually. Could it be a trans mount or something like that?

does the car pull to one side when accelerating or letting off the gas?
If so , sway bar or lca bushings....if not motor or trans mount....imo

As a matter of fact yes....when i let out the gas and go to shift, it pulls to the left. I kinda thought that was just me being twitchy with the manual steering.

drastic or just a little? I would definitely be looking at the bushings

Mine did this exact thing once. The bolts that hold the corner bracket that the sway bar bushing mounts to were loose. Basically acted like a big "slapper bar".

check wheel torque... ive had that happen once or twice... clunks for a bit then gets wobbly

I wouldn't say it's drastic...like i said i thought it might just be me being twitchy on the steering...it feels a lot more sensitive than a lot of cars i've driven...manual steering has more of a direct feel whereas power steering sometimes is really vague. But yeah if i'm driving and i push in the clutch it does pull to the left some. I'll have to get under there and start poking around. Where's a good place to get *affordable* bushings?
