  • HELP! oil in intake tube to throttle body

92L 5spd 183K Got from Levitan in January and have been working on
clean up and repairs. Haven't run at all only started a few times. Today
I started up and ran for about 10 min, temp stayed ok but noticed some
smoke fumes from around motor which didn't surprise me as I had cleaned
some on the engine and had some residue of oil and degreaser. Pulled the
dipstick while running and had smoke vapors from tube and noticed some
oil collection around oil filler cap on valve cover. Took air tube off to throttle
body and had some oil present in the tube. Seemed at first start up to
miss some when throttled up and beleive now it is probably due to oil
getting into intake. Any help appreciated! THANKS

Is the engine venting properly? Check this other thread: http://www.fordfestiva.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=28461

I had the same problem (oil in breather tube& not running properly) plus some others. To make a long story short, I decided to completely rebuild the engine. When I tore it apart I had two cracked pistons and another piston had sucked in rings. Lets hope that is not the reason for your problems. I have also been told that the plate under the valve cover has a gasket that may also cause the blowby.
