  • Weird lighting issue

    Hey all,

All my dash lights are working as are the rear lights, license plate lights etc. Funny thing is the front corner lights aren't I've changed out bulbs to no avail, they were old ones I had laying around so I am going to pick up new ones tomorrow. If that doesn't solve the problem does anyone have any suggestions as to what to look for?

    Thanks

my first one did that, corrosion got between light bulb and socket terminal.
kinda like when gasket around front blinkers is bad..
just had to clean inside socket, then they worked.
might not be your problem, but, its a start

mine didn't work in uncle fester when i first got it. It was bc of corrosion. Took apart the connectors, cleaned, and they worked. Did you check for power?

I don't think that's it as the headlights do what they're supposed to! haven't had a chance to clean the connections yet so that's probably the cause. The odd thing is they were working, unplugged them to remove the corner lights, plugged them back in and they stopped working. I unplugged them at the big black plug.

Anyways, thanks for all your suggstions. I'll update later after I get a chance to have another look at them.

                Cheers

Got the park light issue sorted out. It was a combination loose bulbs and dirty connectors. Now I have another problem to sort out.

The driver's side headlight works just fine but the passenger side is really dim. My first guess was faulty bulb but that wasn't it so onto guess number two. Could it be a bad ground connection? I checked the EVTM and there are separate grounds for each side.

I'm going to try to improve the ground on that side tomorrow but I just wanted to get your input as well to see if there may be something else to look for.

I forgot to mention that these are the Mazda 121 headlights with H4 bulbs. I plan to get some updated photos of the car up in the next day or two.

                  Thanks again,

Cool and thanks for posting what you had discovered was the problem. Perhaps others as they are trying to figure out their problem will see this.
