  • lifter bleeding problem.. Do they bleed in the engine while running automatically?

I have rebuilt my engine with a set of new pistons and rings and new valve seals. I have taken out all of the oil from the hydraulic lifters when rebuilding but didn't bleed them before putting them in. Now the car when I started it is sounding badly and making a lot of noise from the lifters. Do they bleed automatically?

    Thanks

What do you mean by bleeding? Bleeding the air out? The oil pressure should push oil into the HLAs and get rid of any air trapped inside (that's if you cleaned them well and the oil passages are clear).

Do I need to bleed them manually when they are out?

I have no experience with the 1.3 SOHC HLAs but I've cleaned the 1.8 DOHC HLAs and you don't have to fill them up with oil. Actually, you want them to be clean but spongy when you install them. That way reinstalling the cams will be easy. When you start the car, eventually oil will fill the HLAs and the noise will go away.

Ok now I found what was the problem. It was the ignition wires mixed. now I put them in the correct order.. 1342.

Now it sounds very nice and smooth.

          Thanks
