    defroster broken line repair

    So i have broken lines, and bought a defroster line repair kit. DON'T!

    instead go online (ebay, google shopping, amazon etc) and search for "Conductive Silver Paint". I just spent $13 (shipping included) on this itty bitty bottle, and if i knew what the "substance" was, i would have bought a bottle of the stuff for a better deal. I feel completely ripped off by the size of bottle i just received.


    yeah some are more expensive than others, but look at the amount you get for your dollar. as you can see the stuff i bought as a part of the kit is #1 on this page, so the kit did include a free stencil and brush, but still.. the kit didnt tell me the bottle was so small.

    the 'substance' is powdered silver in laquer. Price is about right.

        Your going to retrace broken conductors in a resistive heating element not paint your car.
        You'll use very little of it.

        Some of the cheaper "kits", bottles, etc. don't work for "fecal matter".
        You might want to paint a line and test it for continuity.
        Also, as the silver is a very good conductor this product can't be used to replace large sections of a non-working defrost "line".
        This stuff is best used to re-establish a connection between a line that has been "nicked" or scratched.

          I had heard (a long, long time ago) that fingernail polish worked... the clear laquer kind. Is that true?

              There might be metallic fingernail polishes, I suppose, but those would be in the minority? I remember hearing "silver model paint," probably from John or Jim. It was at one of the meets they were talking about it.

                Can I buy it by the gallon? That will make snow removal a breeze when I visit NW PA in the winter time.
