I have an 89 Festiva L - manual 4 sp. After replacing the clutch I noticed that the dash lights come on when I go into neutral while moving (coasting)- brake, shift, & check engine lights.. and car stalls. They go off when I put back in gear or as long as I rev engine high. ???

88/89 idle problem
I had exactly that problem after I let a shop touch my Anchorage '88. After several summers of living with it, I jumped a plane to Seattle to study the emission control plumbing on my '88 there, and determined they had messed up some of the plumbing. After I made it match the other car (more or less), it ran like a top. MOST of the plumbing has to be connected properly or the results are unpredictable. SOME of the plumbing can be connected in several different ways without bad results. If anybody ever comes up with a comprehensible diagram and word description of why/how it all works, I'm all ears! Recently, someone posted an '89 diagram somewhere on this site; I asked if they had an '88 equivalent, but never saw any response. Does anybody know if 88s and 89s are identical?88L black, dailydriver

88 plumbing manual
Yes, I'd very much like anything I can get on the 88 plumbing. My daily drivers in both WA and AK are 88s, with only 37K since engine rebuild on the WA one, which is a zero-dent zero-rust LX with all the trimmings. I'll be driving these for a good many years to come. I've even been considering picking up another 88 with a blown engine and torn-up dash just for another example of maybe-correct plumbing. I'll cover any copying(color if needed)/mailing/whatever costs. PM me for my coordinates. Ralph.88L black, dailydriver

Vacuum issue
Yes - I have isolated to a vacuum issue. Thought I found the culprit and worked for a day - now back to the same. If you have a diagram - would love it - bballkevin@comcast.net. Thanks.
