Ok, i know you guys are probably getting tired of my questions but here's another. I am trying to change the timing belt and water pump on my 1990 L and i have run into a problem, There are two screws on the inner pulley on the crankshaft, and they are stripped, and i cant get them out. Anyone have any suggestions?

I've found a couple of ways to remove Phillip head screws, after apllying penetrating oil.
1. Grab the head tightly in a pair of large piers and twist to get the screw started. This prevents rounding off the slot with a screwdriver.
2. Use the large Phillips driver which came in the ratchet set. It fits snug and doesn't slip out easily like a screwdriver.Original owner of silver grey carburetted 1989 Festiva. 105k km as of June 2006. 140k km as of June 2021.

If your engine doesn't have them at all and not even holes for them, then you have an engine with a "big nose" crankshaft which is usually found only on the '93 Festiva. If you have holes for them and they are missing, don't worry about it. The 4 main 10mm head bolts will hold it all together, no problem.Originally posted by JohnGunn View PostMy 90 L doesn't have these two screws. Am I missing something?
