  • Parking Brake Light

The parking brake light came on the other day in my Festiva, and for the life of me I have no idea why it did since the cable isnt hooked up. Any advice? Is there a sensor to the cable somewhere that I can knock out and make the light go out? I tried unhooking the battery cable for 12 hours but its still on.

I think it's also the sensor for the master cylinder fluid level.

Ok, guess I better check it. Just put in a brand new brake master cylinder. Hope there isnt a hole in the lines somewhere (however it still stops great).

Check your emergency brake handle in the center console guarantee the sensor is shot most likely the cause of the light coming on mine just started doing this and i found out the sensor was sticking...

Also, along the same lines, check to make sure nothing is down in there keeping the handle from going all the way down. My 89 is very sensitive, if that handle is not all the way down, the light will come on. My 90, not so much.
