Help Me!!!!!

[1999 Festiva - Aussie Gal]

I have taken my car to two different mechanics and they both cannot seem to solve my problem.....
My car looses power and idols really rough whenever i have been driving it around continuously for say 1 - 2 hours, it eventually has no acceleration at all and if i pump the accelerator it stalls. Once this problem occurs i turn the engine off leave it for 5 minutes and then start it and it will go again fine for another 1 hour or so. I have changed two fuel filters in the past month and both times they have been very dirty. The mechanic has checked for any stored electrical messages and there is none. The fuel pump screen was also cleaned.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

You mentionned you changed the fuel filter twice and it was dirty both times, maybe there is crap at the bottom of the gas tank?

If your gas tank is below 1/4 full it would accentuate the problem.

You could try flushing the gas tank.

yeah I had a similar problem... Mine is a 91 festiva GL(auto)
I would turn on the car and everytime I hit the gas pedal the engine light would come on.
When I took my foot off the pedal it would go off. I could hammer the gas but only get a small amount of power and it wouldn't go above 30km/h
Eventually I let it sit for abit and then tried again and it's been fine.

Problems my mechanic thought this was are as follows.
Oil leak had somehow sprayed oil all over the interior of my air intake

and as you mentioned above... I had just filled the tank for the first time and shit was probably getting clogged in the gas line somewhere.
