  • Sound from Engine

Hey guys, just wondering if any of yous have experienced this problem before: After the car is running at the right temperature (98 Festiva), when its idleing, if i give it just a tap of throttle it makes this woop wooping noise from the lefthand side of the engine (possibly timing belt?) it then slowly goes away back to ideling, ive been told its nothing to worry about as its been there ever since ive had the car (4 months), its just REALLY annoying when sitting in traffic creeping forward and stopping..

It might be that cone air filter, they make noise when sucking in air.

No, its not from the Pod Filter(Its noise is constant), this noise is coming from the side of the engine.

Pulley may be rubbing on the timing belt cover...common problem but not sure I would describe it as the noise you are hearing.

No chance you've just got an old/ slightly stretched alt. belt that makes noise at lower idle speeds, but under a load, it has enough tension to not cause a problem? Tho, I'm not sure I would describe that sound as 'woop wooping' either.

Tighten the alternator/water pump belt and see if the noise changes.
