  • New cluster; Tach and temp inop

As I said yesterday I bought an "88 tach cluster and replaced the speedo only one in my "93 with it. No problem installing it, routed my speedo cable to the right of the dash support, everything plugged up fine. Only thing is the tach and the temp guage don't work. Temp worked fine with the other cluster. I was wondering if there is a voltage stabilizer or something else common to the two that would keep them from working??? I assume the tach gets it's signal from the - side of the coil or it's equivalent......

Are all the screws on the back of the cluster there? When I installed a tach cluster on my 92, the tach didn't work. It ended up being that a screw on the back was missing. Some screws are there to close the circuit. I posted a picture at some point.

Thanks!! I'll check both. I did have the thing apart because I was gonna try to set the miles back to 80k to match the one I removed but I decided against it. I might not have put the screw in the right place. Still doesn't explain the temp guage unless it is somehow related....I'll let ya' know......

The board will also have a screw like that for the temp gauge.
