  • A/C Question for those who have been there.

I have the entire A/C system torn down and I can't seem to find where the orifice tube is installed. Can you point me in the right direction? Also I can get 3 different orifice tubes, OE replacement, Automatic Adjusting for normal climate, and Automatic Adjusting for severe climate. Which orifice tube should I go back with? The OE one is like $2 from Factory Air and the others are in the $20-30 range. Instinct tells me the more I pay the better, but my wallet says just rock the OE one and deal.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Festivas do not have orifice tubes, they are called thermostatic expansion valves and the are located in the evaporator assembly behind the glove box.
the correct TX valve is sourced from AC Delco

Already replaced the TXV, I was just checking because Advance showed the part numbers for the orifice tubes and repair kits. Usually the R12 cars all had TXV, and the 134 cars came with an orifice tube. Just wanted to ask, I didn't think I was losing my mind. I am converting it to 134, but I never had issues with using the TXV that came in the R-12 systems. So I just wanted someone to let me know I hadn't lost my ever loving mind.

            Thank you guys!
