  • Hoping for answers

Well i have a 1989 ford festiva L 4spd manual car and i was wondering how hard it would be to change it to a 5spd car
i mainly want to do this to get it to be able to run on the highway... when running anything over about 60 the car sounds like it is taching really high and i'm afraid long driving on the highway would destroy it
any advice on a trans to look for?
what would be involved in a swap like this?
i'm not very handy with cars but have some family who could help with this maybe if it's not too complicated

I did that swap, Just change out the trans. It is a bolt in deal! Any Festiva 5 speed will work.

No it is just like removing your 4 speed and reinstalling it, same everything except the trans. You can place a want ad in the FS forum (follow posting rules). You should be able to get one for under $150 or less.
