  • trailer wiring question

I have a 93 festiva that i just put a hitch on, and i need to wire it for a triler now, i have the plug end but don't know what wires to splice into in the back, does anyone know what wires are what back there? (for the tail lights i mean)
    thanks

well festivas have separate turn signals, right?

i'd have to do some research on that... but on cars that use the red brakelights as turn signals as well, they are easy enough. you take a wire from each brake light, right and left and then a wire from the running light. they all use a common ground so it's four wires going to the trailer.

alright, from what I gather, you need a converter that they sell at auto parts stores to convert your cars separate brake and turn signals into one left side brake/turn and a right side brake/turn. the running lights and ground you should be able to figure out.

Yea they sell a special plug that is color coded for our cars. It is for the problem described above with the separate turn signals.

seems so. i've never seen one at walmart, but i haven't looked that hard either.

any towing rental places? we have u-haul here and they offer hitch installation and light kits. maybe (as a last resort, high prices) you could find the adapter there.

i got mine from walmart and it was by far the cheapest... like 15 bucks can.

it just has I believe 5 or 6 wires going into the little box and then from the little box is your 4 wires and plug to hook to trailer...

Most places sell a universal one for cars with separate turn and brake lights.. Works well.
