  • cooling fan question...

The radiator fan on my now ex-girlfriend's 93 L stopped kicking on when heating up. I have several extra fans to swap out, but wonder if there might be another cause first? The fuse is good BTW. Sensor?

    Thanks,

    Simple test:

Unhook the wire from the temp sender on the front of the block. It's 1 wire just under the last plug wire.

If the fan comes on, it's the temp sender switch. If not, it's the fan.
The normal is not always normal... MOST is not ALL... And any job can be hard if you don't have the right tools!!!

i'd replace the cooling fan switch first.. its on the front of the engine and threads into the themostat housing...

if the fan turns check your relay for the fan its behind the coolant over flo on most festiva check there for 12 v. if not the relay check your temp fan sensor located under throttle body. if not the sensor after u check for ohms.the can be 3 related sensors i will take pics from first to last so u can figure it out i had to figure this out on my 88 and i hope i dont ever get this issue when i get the 89
