    Compression check

I warped mine so bad I could hear gas being forced into the over flow container when I was cranking it.
But, I could get it to run, but had to really let it crank.
And as said above, with the lower compression it cranks over much faster.

This may seem stupid but I have had it happen onmy 1965 Hillman Minx.
Check the spark plugs cos I had a pipe blow once and it went everywhere even down the carby. The glycol may have made a home on the spark gap depending if it was still sucking it in when ya turned it off. Its a weird one i know but it obviously was my problem, Just another idea anyways

Take the distributor cap off and dry out the inside of the cap. Put it back on and pull the wires off, one by one and dry off the outside and the ends of the wires.

Matter of fact, wipe off the wires all the way back to the spark plug. Do the same with the coil wire. I think it'll run then.

The spark will go to the least resistance. Sometimes, a plug will fire outside a cylinder but when under cylinder pressure, the spark will jump to ground, somewhere else.

So i started the car for the first time in 3 weeks and it started and it had a really high idle like it was gonna blow or something and the exhaust was smoking like crazy.

What does this mean? we did put some wd40 and some gasoline down the carb but i doubt thats what happened.

How long did you let it run?

i let it run for about 30 seconds tops 1 time and another time for like 15-20 seconds too see if the smoke would stop/idling would calm, and the idling calmed down a little after 10 seconds.

After throwing stuff down the carby it may take a minute to get rid of it all. I used have to do this all the time to get my Minx to start (don't have to any more). Let it run its course and see what happens. As long as there is no nasty noises coming from it the car should be fine. It might be an idea to get some carby/throttle body cleaner and run that through it. It might be blocked up.
