    Ok, I got the top of the carb off. There is black crud in the bowl. Of the 2 springs standing on the "posts", one looks gunked up, almost rusted looking.
    Gunk on posts and a few moving parts. Definitely is dirty in there. Getting dark out now, will blow out crud in the carb and clean with carb cleaner spray, before continuing tomorrow.
    What about cleaning the jets? Is spray cleaner enough to do the job?

      hey im having the same problem in my 91 l efi....i have to fillup after just 200 miles cuz at a half tank it starts bucking and driving like poo
      91L 5 sp, 175k,a/c ,KYB gr2,Fms Lowering springs ,13" konig's ,09 tiburon seats, 7" Pyle in.dash,kicker ds400 all around,Kicker 400.2 powering 2 Kicker cvr 10", 30k hid's, hopeful to find a xr2 to swap b6t from....

      2010 mazdaspeed3 stock... for now

        And have you checked the fuel tank for crud as drddan did?

              yup, spray carb cleaner is fine. The jets are at the bottom of the bowl and face left to right IIRC, so use the straw on the can and get deep in there!

                              Had one busy day, and then one lazy day. I am going out to reassemble the carb this morning and see if it will run.
                              Darn it if the gasket didnt rip when removing the top of the carb. A little RTV should patch it.

                                Ok, got the carb back together and now IT WONT RUN AT ALL. Wont start, just crank and crank, nothing. Looking into the throat of carb it is steady dripping gas into carb from jets area and gas is on top of throat area. Dripping gas while NOT being cranked. WTF. Working throttle dont see gas squirt from jets. :angry5: I hate old carbs.
