87' festiva and a 92' festiva compatible?
i got a 92 festiva and im thinking about buying a 87 festiva. i need both front axles and was thinking about swapping my auto. tranny for the manual in the 87. i didnt want to buy it without consulting the "pros" here at fordfestiva.com please answer so i wont be wasting time and money.

there is not a 87 model festiva, but the very first 88's were made in 87.
here is autonatic to manual tranny swap:

axles themselves are different from the automatics and the manuals (slight length change)

87' Festiva is an 87 foot Festiva. I think you mean '87 Festiva short for 1987 Festiva.

Welcome to the site! Like EJP said you can't use the manual axles on the Auto trans. However, if you wanted to you can swap the whole manual trans, axles and all into the '92. Also, unless the '88 (even though it was built in '87 its technically an '88 model year) is an LX model its going to have a 4 speed manual instead of the 5 speed, so you won't have overdrive. Really shouldn't make too much difference unless you are on the highway a lot with it, then having a 5 speed is nice for gas mileage but around town a 4speed is good.No festiva for me ATM...Comment
