OK I picked up my new yellow 91 festiva yesterday, got it home , put a battery in it and yeah the car fired right up after 2 years sitting. the shifter for the tranny had fell on top of the exsuast, I pulled the shifter up hard but its still feels like its sloppy and wont go into any gears, I had a friend look in the engine compartment and he said it looked like it was shifting but thought maybe it did not have enough throw to go into gear. please help Im mecanically stupid.

Less concerned about oil and tranny fluid than I would be about two year old gas clogging the filters and injectors.
Shifting
Is the clutch working?
Is the shifter rod assembly hooked-up to the transmission?Last edited by Pu241; 08-06-2010, 12:13 PM.'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

As Pu241 said, check over the shifter linkage, if it all looks in good working order, then i would say your problem is inside the tranny
