Hey guys well this not exactly an aspire or festiva but its the same time period . I tried posting on other forum boards but all those guys suck with answering questions, and you guys seem to know a whole lot more than they do!..Heres the deal, I just bought a 92 honda civic hatchback the guys whom I bought it from had his friend put in a new clutch, well after he did the car would go into gear but will not move at all? I pulled the engine and took the tranny off and the clutch was put in correctly. The pilot and throw out bearings were bad tho, he didnt replace them. I then put the tranny back on and decide to gv the crank shaft a turn, so I did and were the axles meet the tranny was moving fine, even in every gear. I did notice it was very easy to remove the axles when I was first taking them off, they popped off with a flat top screw driver with little force. So I still have the engine and tranny pulled and I'm not sure what is wrong? You guys have any idea what could cause that?

You think it could be that? I'm just afraid to put the engine and tranny back in and it dont work then have to take everything back out. I did just take the tranny to the transmission shop and the guy said the tranny is working perfectly. Now I just found out that engine maybe upgraded..the dude that replaced the clutch original had a 3 stage clutch in and then decide to put in a stock clutch and when he did all this happened. Could that be a possible cause, or?

It's possible you may have the wrong clutch disc installed. I would loosen the pressure plate bolts and see if the pressure plate tries to push away from the flywheel at least 3/16" to 1/4". If it stays tight or almost tight to the flywheel with the bolts loose, you're not getting enough pressure on the clutch disc to drive the car. You could be getting enough tension on the clutch disc to move the axles with no load to make you think it was ok. If the clutch is good make sure you center the disc with the pilot bearing when you put it back together. If the clutch is holding good then I would say Festyboy's advice is your problem. Only one axle has to be out for the car not to move. You don't need both of them out.You gonna race that thing?

See if the clutch disk alone will even go onto the shaft coming out of the trans. The splined hole in the clutch may be for a different size shaft or even a different spline count.
