Hood shakes at high speed

Whenever I go over 65, the hood on my Festiva shakes and bounces as if it were loose or not shut properly.

It kind of unnerves me - it looks like the hood is about to fly up against the windshield.

However, the hood is firmly closed and latched in place, and seems to be on securely.


Does anyone else's Festiva do this? Is it normal? Any remedies other than hood pins?

do you feel any vibration in the steering wheel, floor or seat? If so, have the front wheels balanced, as that could be the root cause.

are both hood bumpers in place? round rubber bumpers attached to the underside of the hood at each front corner. If one or both of those are missing, the hood is being allowed to over-react to possible normal vibrations.

Same happens to me, Tim, since I had my hood off for the B6 swap. I think I just need to tighten/adjust the latch, but I'm lazy and haven't done that yet.
