  • Weid tranny problem

It's a bp swap festiva with the 323 f series tranny 4 speed.
When it is in neutral the drivers side tire act's like it is in gear and will spin the other tire, but the pass side just spins freely like it suppose to. I have not ran the car just got it finished and on ground. What might this be?
    Thanks guys
    O and it is a 1988 323 non turbo

It's too hard to explain how/why that happens, but that's how what's refered to as an "open differential" like your's works. Check out these links, there's animation in the first one:
    http://auto.howstuffworks.com/differential2.htm or:
Traction helps determine how much torque can be applied to wheels. Find out how open differentials affect driving on ice or off-road and how positraction can help.

As the subject line says, you've got a weid in the tranny. Without food it will die and the problem should resolve itself.
