Starter solenoid (relay) is on the starter itself, no?

no i believe that is a different part there should be an actual relay on the firewall or under the dash?

No, its on the starter, like most starters since, oh, the early 90s. Thats why theres a big fat wire and a little wire going to the starter, ones the power and the others the signal.
