  • I Give Up

Well after rebuilding the front end of my engine countless times to correct and Front Main Seal Leak the Rear Main Seal is now leaking.

What's the deal with these seals?

I'm tired of messing with it, I think I'm just going to part the car out.

They are brand new and I replaced the front one at least 6 times.

Neither AA nor AZ was able to get the correct sleeve.

However, I did try the Permatex Ultra Gray

Go somewhere else, the sleeve will solve your problem. Try NAPA.

Just order it online if they can't find it. I had no problem getting it at advanced and they all have they same computers and inventory they draw from so if the clerk can't find it ask someone else to help you. They have it.

I changed my seal twice and still had the leak. It leaked a quart in 50 miles and the crank looked smooth. I put in the sleeve and no more leak. Don't give up on the car yet.

I thought you were saying the rear seal was now leaking, I assumed you hadn't changed it yet. my bad.

Matt's correct. I got my sleeve from Advanced. Its not the seals, its your crank. Theres a very small groove worn into the snout where the seal rides, allowing oil past the seal. Get the sleeve and a new seal, and all will be well.....

                    It's the seals.

Every time I break down the front end to check it out the seal is so loose it practically falls out.

Since I use the Permatex Ultra Gray the leak is a lot slower but I'm not going to waste any more time or money working on the front seal since the rear seal leaks too.
