1988 Festiva. i have no juice coming from my brand new coil. If i jump the negative side of the coil straight to the neg side of battery car will fire up. So where do the two connectors from the neg side go? I am very novice but i can follow directions, lol. I have muliti meter which i used to trace problem back to coil, just learning how this device works. Any suggestions?

The negative side of the coil should NOT have constant neg. going to it. I think you may have the coil on backwards. The neg. side on mine was the side closest to the strut tower. Please check and let us know. The normal is not always normal... MOST is not ALL... And any job can be hard if you don't have the right tools!!!

yea the neg side is closet to strut. Sorry it must of been fluke it started; cause it wont now. It just would crank the last couple days but when i jumpered the neg it just happen to start today. Any how back to the drawing board. I see no spark at the spark plugs, put in new plugs, wire, coil, guess i will try new dist cap and router. Prob should of just taken my beloved festiva to shop might save money in long run, but this forum is exceptional thank you.

The module can be replaced. Can also be tested to confirm it needs replacing, many parts retailers will test for free. If replacing bed it in dielectric heat transfer paste, same as goes under the CPU in computers, avail cheap in small amounts from electronics retailers. I had one replaced dry and it didn't last. Luckily they come with a 5 yr 5k warranty.Original owner of silver grey carburetted 1989 Festiva. 105k km as of June 2006. 140k km as of June 2021.

Hello
had similar problem with my 89. Found a Ignition mod on Ebay for like $70. CHEEP CHEEP CHEEP. $200 everywhere else.
Take off Ditsy Cap
Take off Ditsy Rotor
Take of Plastic Spacer Plate
The Ign Mod is a half moon shaped piece of plastic with three wires plugged into it and two phillips screws holding it.
Take wires off and screws out.
There are also two more connectors that connect it to the interior of the ditsy so be easy and slide not pull it out.
Buy new one from ebay and replace
worked 100% for me
I had replaced fuseable links, coil, ditsy cap and rotor, and plugs with none of them working. The unfortunate and more expensive answer is the darn ign mod.
Hope info works for you. any questions there are awesome ppl here that will help

Last I checked, the module's in the disty's cannot be checked at auto parts stores. Only external modules.
