  • Cooling Fan issues

    Hi there!

I've just bought a Mazda 121 1988 and the previous owner changed engine and cooler.

    Now my issues:

The temp sensor in the bottom of the cooler was not connected, and 2 wires was hanging just next to it.

With the car running I connected the 2 wires to eachother to see if the fan started, but it didn't. It just "clicked" once in a relay near the front window, drivers side (left) that had 2 vacuum hoses connected to it.

I exchanged that relay but no diffrence.

Then I found this forum and read that I'd dissconnect the cable to the thermostateswitch. And the fan started! But runs all the time the car is running.

    Question:

If the fan starts when the switchcable is dissconnected, but not when the tempsensor cables is connected to eachother. Where could the problem be?
Shouldn't the fan relay be working when the fan starts when disconnecting the tempswitch?

    Bonus question:

Where in the all mighty Festiva-GOD is the coolingfan relay? How many cables is connected to it and what colours do they have?

    Best regards - Pelle
