escort muffler o.k for festiva?

Hi..can i use a ford escort muffler on my festiva?...I was wondering about the back pressure..will there be any...is there code on muffler..please help before i get a ticket..got my warning already....thank you...

I really can't answer your question. Did the cop use a sound meter or his own ears?

I'm sure you could use the Escort muffler if you can make it fit. It should quiet things down sufficiently. As to loss of backpressure, I don't think it would be too much. You probably wouldn't even notice. Your stock exhaust manifold, your cat, and your small diameter pipes already create enough backpressure I would think.

If you removed your cat and went to 2" pipes, etc., you'd notice. I don't think the muffler, or loss of it, would matter much.

Thanks guys for the advice..the cop stopped me and I talked my way out of the excessive noise ticket as I carried the old muffler for a situation like this..

My lady owns 7 cats..I would'nt mind using a few to better the tone to my car...i do love animals..but 7.........geeze..

I also need the wiring code so i can install a radio...schamatics..

I use a stock egt exhaust from the downpipe back on my aspire with a cherry bomb turbo muffler. It actually sounds quite good and ive never had any complaints.
