Ever since I got my 92 I have been hunting a vibration issue, does it all the time and changes with speed.
The tires were brand new when I got it, took it in and had the balance checked and looked for a bent wheel. All straight and good balance.
Tire shop reinstalled wheels, I seen them with a torque wrench and assumed it was set correctly.
I had warped rotors and decided to resurface them at the shop, got in a hurry and put the tires back on and hit the lug bolts with a 3/8 drive snap on gun. We always torque by hand but being my car and in a rush.....driving home I felt the vibration had changed.
Today got done early and decided to look at the tiva again.
put it on the rack and pulled all 4 wheels, checked all the suspension everything looked ok. put a run-out gauge on the hubs and all spun true, cleaned them off as well. Checked the surface on the wheel that mates to the hub, looked great.
Put the wheels back on and hand snugged all the bolts then torqued the wheels to proper torque (66-87) I went 70.
On the way home it is just as smooth as can be.
Moral of the story: make sure when a tire shop has your wheels off they reinstall at the correct torque and do not get in a hurry just because its "your car"
