  • MY 88 CARBED FESTY ISNT RUNNING RIGHT!!!!! HELP!!!!

My carbed festy took a crap on me this morning on the way to work, heres what happened. For the last week Ive been driving my car to work with this little hesitation when it would bog down a little would surge like crazy until you gave it full throttle, the best way to describe it is if you were too give your car gas then let go and then press the gas again really fast, that's what it feels like.
And it always takes awhile to fire up, I have to crank it over alot and give it gas before it fires. Then today it just gave up on me I was driving and then all of a sudden lug lug lug lug lug dead, cranked it over and finally fired up again, gave it gas and lug lug lug dead. I did this until I got it home. Then tonight I fired it up and looked and everything and I couldn't really see anything wrong. PLEASE HELP ME AND DON'T KNOW HOW TO WORK WITH CARBED CARS, ANYTHING WILL HELP ME A TON.

    Thanks
    Mike

I just went and looked at the fuel pump and theres a bolt missing where it bolts too the head. and it looks like its broke off inside. Could this cause the problem?

      Thanks again

yes. the pump is moving around, and the cam can't act on the pump lever correctly. Do yourself a favor and spend the $35 for a new pump, just to be sure.

buy a bolt extractor. they sell em in the tool isle at the auto parts stores. look kinda like a drill bit. give that a try.
