bad alt

Ok this on a probe but same concept. The car has a system and has killed the alt because it was stock and they pull to much. And to day while on way home the alt quite and the bat didn't have enough to keep the coolant fan going and almost over heated. So i am wanting to find a alt that can put out a bit more than 80 amps lol.
So any one have a idea of a alt that works off another car? That puts out more amps? This is the 2.0 motor so nothing special except the system pulls to much and need it to be drive able since my bp car is down.

Don't know how much you're looking to drop on an alt., but according to a probe forum I am technically still a member of, you can use the V-6 alt. (2.5L) that puts out 90 amps. Or, you can go with this one.

Edit: If you use the 2.5L alt, you apparently have to swap pulleys, but otherwise it's plug and play.

Seriously, you've got a 2.0 Probe, that would make it second gen, correct? What all are you running on the car? The alternator is about the only thing on my 97 SE that did not give me problems. Just extras for the sound system?
