About a hour job to a person that has mechanic skills. The gasket alone doesn't cost much either.

Replace as many gaskets and seals as you can while the heads off.

You will also need to take the head to a machine shop and have it shaved so don't plan on it taking only an hour.

Why would you purposely buy a festiva with specifically with a head gasket gone?

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

I assumed he was already looking at one in particular that has a blown head gasket. Could be wrong though
But to the Op, I bought my first festy for $380 with a blown head gasket. I had never done any mechanical work and I slowly replaced it myself, learning along the way. Isn't a hard job and it's good experience!
